Hunter's Guild
Hunter Ranks
Section titled “Hunter Ranks”Any hunter that has been sent into the wide world to hunt monsters is considered an “Errant”, regardless of rank. Even those of low rank such as Journeyman may be placed in an administrative position if they are too injured to continue hunting.
- Marshal: Oversees the entire guild.
- Commander: Oversees a region of the guild.
- Master: The highest errant rank or the rank of a guild teacher.
- Adept: Only earned with great experience.
- Journeyman: The lowest errant rank.
- Apprentice: The lowest rank, applies to all who study and never left the halls.
Hunter Schools
Section titled “Hunter Schools”The Guild has a specific school related to each fundamental force. These are called the Arcane, Divine, Martial, Primal, and Psionic schools. There are times in training that some proficient apprentices may study in a different school, but the vast majority of hunters only ever study under one school to maximize the benefits of the Trial of the Current.
Trial of the Current
Section titled “Trial of the Current”After the first full training season, a batch of new apprentices undergoes the Trial fo the Current. Few details exist concerning the trial outside of the Hunter’s Guild. All that anyone can be sure of is the fact that more than half of those who take part either die or are crippled for life.
The trial is unique to each school. Apprentices are isolated in a remote location and physically connected to a current of one of the five fundamental forces. This connection twists, mutates, and can even fester. But if the bond between the individual and the current holds true, the individual is changed. As they spend years studying in the Guild, they will change further. It is this trial that allows a hunter to grow in power far beyond most mortals.
